1. FC Schweinfurt 05 — Last 6 matches
F.C. Hansa Rostock — Last 6 matches

1. FC Schweinfurt 05 welcome F.C. Hansa Rostock to the 3. Liga on Saturday afternoon, 18 April 2026, and the contrast between the two clubs is stark. Schweinfurt are scrapping at the bottom of the table in 20th with only 18 points, while Rostock arrive sitting fifth on 59, chasing the promotion places and trying to turn a strong season into something even better.

That gap in the standings gives the fixture a very clear shape. Schweinfurt need points to stop the slide and drag themselves away from the foot of the division, but every week is turning into a fight against the clock. Rostock, meanwhile, are in the thick of the race at the top end and can’t afford a sloppy afternoon against a side with nothing to lose. For Daniel Brinkmann’s team, this is exactly the sort of game they’re expected to take control of. For Jermaine Jones’ side, it’s about upsetting the script.

The numbers add to the sense that goals should be on the menu. Schweinfurt have been involved in plenty of open, messy games, and Rostock have been just as keen to keep the scoreboard moving. Schweinfurt’s season has been bruising at both ends of the pitch — 31 scored, 77 conceded overall — while Rostock have been much cleaner but still aggressive going forward with 62 goals of their own. That’s the sort of matchup where a quiet 0-0 feels very unlikely.

1. FC Schweinfurt 05 Form & Analysis

Schweinfurt’s recent run has been a mix of stubborn resistance and familiar late collapse. They went to TSG Hoffenheim II U23 on 10 April and came away with a 1-1 draw, a result that at least interrupted a rough patch and gave them a little breathing space. Sebastian Müller struck in the 27th minute, Deniz Zeitler later converted a penalty, and for once Schweinfurt didn’t leave empty-handed. Before that, though, the story was much harsher. Rot-Weiss Essen came to town on 7 April and won 3-1. A few days earlier Schweinfurt were thumped 4-0 away to VfL Osnabrück. That’s the sort of spell that drains confidence quickly.

The better moments haven’t disappeared entirely. On 21 March they beat VfB Stuttgart II U21 3-1 at home, and on 7 March they saw off SSV Ulm 1846 3-2 in a lively home game. But even those victories tell you something about this side: they rarely get control without chaos. They’ve been in six matches that veered all over the place, and the overall pattern is clear enough. They can score, especially at home, but they leave too many openings. One clean sheet in the last six would be generous. It’s been a rollercoaster, and not the fun kind.

At home, Schweinfurt’s record is part of the reason they’re stuck down at the wrong end. Four wins, two draws and ten defeats from 16 home league matches doesn’t give them much to lean on. They’ve scored 21 at home and conceded 32, which is hardly catastrophic by relegation-zone standards, but it’s still too loose. You can usually tell how their afternoon will go by how quickly the opposition gets chances. They’re not being blown away every week, but they’re giving rivals far too much encouragement. Against a side like Rostock, that’s a dangerous habit. Very dangerous.

F.C. Hansa Rostock Form & Analysis

Rostock come into this one with much healthier momentum. Their most recent outing was a 4-1 home win over SSV Ulm 1846 on 11 April, and it was a proper statement. Emil Holten scored twice before half-time, Elias Löder added a third after the break, and the goals kept coming all the way to the end. It was polished, ruthless and far more convincing than a narrow result would have been. Before that, they nicked a 2-1 away win at SC Verl on 8 April. Go back a little further and the picture stays positive: a 1-0 win at SV Wehen Wiesbaden, a 5-1 hammering of MSV Duisburg at home, and a hard-fought 0-0 at Energie Cottbus. One home blip against Viktoria Köln aside, they’ve been moving in the right direction for weeks.

That sort of run matters because Rostock aren’t just winning; they’re doing it in different ways. They can force the tempo, as they did against Duisburg and Ulm, or grind out an away result when the game needs patience. That’s a strong sign for a team sitting fifth. The recent 4-1 win was their most eye-catching display, but the away victories at Verl and Wiesbaden may be even more useful for this trip to Schweinfurt. Can they keep that edge on the road? On current evidence, yes. They’ve looked composed away from home and don’t need many chances to hurt teams.

Their away record is one of the strongest in the division: eight wins, six draws and only two defeats from 16 league trips, with 28 goals scored and just 13 conceded. That’s promotion-level away form, full stop. They’ve been tough to beat, quick to punish mistakes and smart enough to stay in games even when they don’t dominate possession. The one small wrinkle is that they haven’t kept many clean sheets lately, but that’s hardly a fatal flaw when they’re scoring with this kind of regularity. Four goals against Ulm, two at Verl, one at Wehen, five against Duisburg. You don’t need to dress it up. They’re dangerous.

Head-to-Head

The only recent meeting in the data came on 22 November 2025, when Hansa Rostock beat Schweinfurt 2-0 at home. That result fits the wider picture. Rostock had the better shape, the more control, and Schweinfurt couldn’t find a way back into it.

There’s no long history to lean on here from the supplied figures, so the main takeaway is simple enough: when these sides met earlier in the season, Rostock were the more polished team and handled the job without fuss. Schweinfurt will need a lot more bite this time if they want to change that.

We Predict: Over 2.5 Goals

We’re backing Over 2.5 Goals at 4/9 for this one, and it’s the strongest angle on the board. Schweinfurt’s matches have been open and messy for weeks, and their home record almost invites the opposition to have a go. Rostock, for their part, have hit this line in five of their last six and have been scoring freely enough to carry the game past three goals on their own if Schweinfurt contribute anything.

The projected 1-2 scoreline fits that picture nicely. Rostock look the more complete side and should have enough quality to nick the points, but Schweinfurt usually find a way to get at least one decent spell at home. A 2-1 away win feels natural. If you want a slightly safer route, Rostock to win and over 1.5 goals would be the alternative, but the totals angle is the cleaner call here.
