Real Betis do not need to be in top form to make this market attractive; they mainly need to avoid defeat and help the game reach two goals. At home in LaLiga they have taken 25 points from 14 matches with seven wins, four draws and only three losses, and their home games average 3.0 total goals from a 26-16 goal record. Betis have also still managed to score in each of their last three league matches, with draws against Celta Vigo and Sevilla either side of the defeat at Athletic Club.
Espanyol bring the strongest part of the case for the goals leg. They are winless in 12 league matches, so the 1X side already has support, and all of their last nine league games have seen both teams score. Their last six league matches have produced three draws and three defeats, with 11 goals scored and 14 conceded, so two-goal games have been regular even without them winning.
There is a little tension in the projections because the xG split of 1.5 to 0.8 points more naturally to a controlled home result than a high-scoring match, but it still clears the route to 1X and gives Betis the better chance of leading the contest. Espanyol’s most recent game, the 1-2 home loss to Getafe on 21 March, also supports the over 1.5 part: they created 1.8 xG, allowed 1.5 xGA and the match contained seven big chances between the sides.
One head-to-head angle fits this market neatly. Betis have won the last four meetings with Espanyol, including 2-1 away in October 2025, 2-1 away in May 2025 and 3-1 in April 2023, while the September 2024 meeting in Seville ended 1-0. That pattern is useful because it points strongly toward Betis avoiding defeat, and three of those four wins also cleared the two-goal line.
My prediction is Double Chance 1X & Over 1.5 at 1.57. Betis have lost only three of 14 home league matches, Espanyol are without a win in 12 league games, Espanyol’s last nine league matches have all seen both teams score, and the projected 2-1 scoreline still matches the market even if the xG suggests Betis should control more than chase a shootout.
