SC Verl — Last 6 matches
FC Viktoria Köln — Last 6 matches

SC Verl host FC Viktoria Köln in the 3. Liga on Saturday afternoon, 18 April 2026, with both sides still chasing something meaningful from the run-in. Verl sit 6th on 55 points and are right in the mix for the upper reaches of the table, while Viktoria are 10th on 47 and closer to the pack than the promotion picture. For Tobias Strobl’s side, this is about holding their place near the top and turning a strong season into a finish that matters. For Marian Wilhelm and Viktoria, it’s a chance to keep the momentum from their recent surge and finish with some authority.

There’s a bit more on the line here than simple mid-table comfort. Verl have been one of the division’s more productive sides, scoring 72 and shipping 45, while Viktoria’s profile is more balanced but less explosive at 48 goals scored and 45 conceded. That difference in output matters. Verl are the team with promotion-quality numbers at home, Viktoria the team who’ve had to scrap for points on the road. The game should tell us a lot about whether Verl can reassert control after a wobble, or whether Viktoria’s late-season bite will keep causing problems.

SC Verl Form & Analysis

Verl arrive here having mixed the emphatic with the frustrating. They followed a superb 3-0 home win over 1. FC Saarbrücken on 21 March with a 4-0 demolition of 1. FC Schweinfurt 05, and for a moment they looked like a side ready to power through the final weeks. Then came a tougher spell. They edged past FC Ingolstadt 04 away from home, but the result was followed by a 1-0 defeat at SSV Ulm 1846 and then a 1-2 home loss to F.C. Hansa Rostock. The last outing brought a 1-1 draw at Erzgebirge Aue on 12 April, a decent enough point, though not one that completely quietened the sense they’ve lost a touch of rhythm.

That’s three games without a win now. Not a crisis, but it’s enough to sharpen the edge a little. The Aue draw showed both sides of Verl: they’re still capable of controlling territory, and their shot count of 11-5 in that match suggests they weren’t under siege. Still, they only had two efforts on target and needed an early Berkan Taz goal to settle things. A team like this should be getting more from their attacking volume. At home, though, the numbers remain strong enough to command respect. Verl have taken 31 points at their own ground, with nine wins, four draws and only three defeats, scoring 41 and conceding just 18. That’s a serious home base. Very few sides in the division have been as tough to beat there.

The worrying part is that they’ve recently started to concede in games where they’d normally expect to control the script. Hansa left with a 2-1 win, and even the Ulm game slipped away by a single goal. Verl still look more convincing when they get the first breakthrough, and that’s no surprise given their general ability to dictate matches at home. Yet if the tempo drops or they allow the opponent into the contest, they can be caught. That’s the tension here. They’re strong, but not untouchable. And against an opponent who’s scoring with real confidence, that matters.

FC Viktoria Köln Form & Analysis

Viktoria Köln travel with a very different story. Their last month has been messy at times, but the current mood is better than the raw sequence suggests. They opened with a narrow 2-1 home defeat to Rot-Weiss Essen, then lost 3-2 at TSV Havelse and 1-0 at home to 1860 München. That was a nasty run, three straight defeats and plenty of questions about their defensive control. Since then, they’ve answered well. A 3-2 win at F.C. Hansa Rostock on 4 April was a proper away statement, and they followed it with a 2-1 victory at FC Ingolstadt 04 before beating SV Wehen Wiesbaden 2-1 at home last time out. Three wins in a row. That’s exactly the sort of response they needed.

The details of that Wehen win are telling. Viktoria were outshot 14-8 and weren’t the dominant side in territorial terms, but they were ruthless when it mattered. Lucas Wolf scored twice before the interval, and Moritz Flotho’s penalty in the second half finished the job after Frank Ronstadt’s red card. They don’t always need to control a match to hurt you. That can be a dangerous trait. Away from home, they’ve taken 20 points from 16 trips, with six wins, two draws and eight defeats, scoring 23 and conceding 23. That’s a very even goal difference on the road, which says plenty about their profile: they’re rarely overwhelmed, but they’re not shutout-proof either.

Still, they’ve become a far more awkward opponent over the last few weeks. The away wins at Ingolstadt and Rostock weren’t flukes. They scored twice in both, and their attacking output has sharpened when the game opens up. The issue is that they’ve conceded in almost all of these contests as well. That’s the key point. Viktoria can trade blows, and they usually do. Six of their last six have gone over 2.5 goals, and they’ve found the net in all of them. That kind of streak doesn’t happen by accident. It tells you exactly how they want to play — forward-thinking, direct, and prepared to live with some risk at the other end.

Head-to-Head

This fixture has a habit of producing action, and the recent meetings have leaned heavily in Verl’s favour. The most recent league clash came on 22 November 2025, when SC Verl went to Cologne and ripped Viktoria apart in a 5-1 win. That was a serious statement. Before that, the sides shared a 1-1 draw in Verl in February 2025, while a friendly in January that year ended 3-1 to Verl away from home. Viktoria did beat Verl 2-1 in September 2024, so they’ve had their moments, but the broader pattern is hard to ignore.

The bigger theme is goals. Plenty of them. These meetings have regularly gone the same way, with both teams scoring in all of the last ten head-to-heads listed here and more than 2.5 goals landing in eight of the last ten. That won’t surprise anyone who’s watched either side this season. Verl are strong at home, Viktoria are lively going forward and loose enough at the back to keep the door open. You don’t need much imagination to see chances at both ends again.

We Predict: Both Teams To Score

Both Teams To Score at 8/13 looks the right angle here. It’s short enough to be credible, but not so short that it feels lazy. Verl have scored 72 league goals this season and 41 of those have come at home, while Viktoria arrive off a run of three straight wins and have scored in every one of their last six league matches. Put those things together and BTTS is the natural play. The price reflects that, and it’s fair.

There’s also a clean fit with the way these two have been meeting each other. Viktoria haven’t kept many clean sheets, Verl have enough attacking quality to hurt most sides at home, and the recent head-to-heads have been full of goals. A 2-1 SC Verl win feels the most likely outcome. That said, Over 2.5 Goals is the obvious alternative if you want a little more punch. This has the look of a game where both sides land a few blows before Verl’s home edge tips it their way.
