FC Zlín — Last 6 matches
FK Teplice — Last 6 matches

FC Zlín host FK Teplice on Saturday afternoon in the Czech First League, with both sides still trying to drag themselves clear of the muddle in the lower half of the table. Zlín are 11th on 31 points, Teplice sit 13th on 29, and this one matters because the gap between a comfortable finish and a nervous run-in is paper-thin. Neither club is anywhere near the lofty end of the division, but both would love a few more points to take the heat off.

For Bronislav Cervenka’s Zlín, the pressure is familiar. They’ve spent the season living in that awkward space where a single win can change the mood, only for a bad weekend to drag everything back down. Teplice, managed by Zdenko Frtala, are in a similar mess, just with a slightly tighter grip on survival. They’re winless in seven league games and haven’t looked like a side about to burst into life. That won’t help much on the road.

There’s also a bit of history behind this one. The two clubs have played out plenty of close league meetings in recent seasons, and this fixture often throws up goals. Zlín won the reverse game 3-1 in July 2025, but Teplice have had their moments too. The broader pattern is clear enough: these sides don’t often cancel each other out for long.

FC Zlín Form & Analysis

Zlín’s recent run has been messy, and that’s putting it kindly. Their last six league matches have brought one win, one draw and four defeats, which tells the story before you even get to the fine detail. They beat Viktoria Plzeň 3-0 at home on 1 March, and that result still stands out as the high point of their spring. Since then, it’s been a grind. A 0-0 draw away to Hradec Králové was tidy enough, but the next three home and away matches all ended in defeat, with Slavia Praha leaving their ground with a 3-1 win, Jablonec winning 3-0 in Zlín, and Bohemians Praha 1905 edging them 2-1 away last weekend.

That Bohemians game summed Zlín up. They weren’t hopeless. Far from it. They created enough to stay in the contest, but they were too open once the game stretched. Their xG of 1.15 was respectable enough, yet they conceded 2.32 and allowed far too many good looks at goal. Sixteen shots away from home isn’t a disaster, but 21 against tells you they were chasing the match for long spells. They scored through David Lischka and David Machalík before collapsing late on, and that late concession pattern has become part of the problem.

At home, Zlín have been better than their overall position suggests, though not by much. Their record at this ground is four wins, four draws and six defeats, with 20 goals scored and 22 conceded. That’s not awful, but it isn’t the kind of home base that scares anyone either. They’ve got enough attacking punch to trouble mid-table visitors, and the Plzeň win showed that, yet they also give away too many chances. Five games without a clean sheet is hard to ignore. They’re usually in the match, but they’re rarely in control of it for long. Three goals scored in a good afternoon, then three conceded at home the next week. That’s Zlín in a nutshell.

The worrying bit is consistency. They’ve won once in six, and the only recent clean sheet came in that goalless draw at Hradec Králové. Since then, the defensive door has been swinging open again. Still, this isn’t a team that folds for ninety minutes. They tend to create enough to make games awkward for their opponents. The issue is that they usually leave something on the table at the other end.

FK Teplice Form & Analysis

Teplice come into this one on a seven-match league winless run, and it’s been a pretty flat spell. There’s no shame in drawing with decent sides, but too many stalemates have left them stuck in place. Their last six games have produced four draws, two defeats and no wins, which means they’ve been competitive without ever really moving forward. A 1-1 away draw at Pardubice, another 1-1 at Slovan Liberec and a 2-2 at Viktoria Plzeň are all decent enough results on paper. Then you look at the whole picture and realise they’ve still gone nowhere.

Their most recent outing, a 1-0 home defeat to Sparta Praha on 12 April, was another reminder of how difficult it’s been for them to turn decent patches into points. They only managed 0.38 xG in that game, which is a blunt figure for a side at home. Nine shots, one on target, and very little genuine threat. They stayed in the contest for much of the evening, but when Lukáš Haraslín struck in the 40th minute, Teplice never really looked like responding. That’s the problem. They can keep things respectable, but they don’t consistently find the decisive moment at the right end.

Away from home, Teplice have been stubborn rather than dangerous. Their record on the road is two wins, eight draws and four defeats, with 13 goals scored and 18 conceded. That’s a lot of draws. Can they keep grinding out points on the road? Sometimes, yes. But it comes at a cost. They don’t score enough away from home to put opponents under real pressure, and they’ve only got 13 away goals all season. That’s not a figure that inspires much confidence when you’re travelling to a side that usually finds a way to get on the scoresheet.

Mind you, Teplice aren’t easy to blow away either. They’ve been beaten only four times away from home, which is why they’ve stayed in the pack. Yet there’s a familiar pattern to their trips: they’re often competitive, often level for a long stretch, and then just short of a breakthrough. Against better possession sides, that can keep the score down. Against a team like Zlín, who tend to play in games rather than dominate them, it can still leave enough room for both sides to nick one.

Head-to-Head

This fixture has been lively in recent seasons, and the recent meetings lean clearly towards goals. Zlín beat Teplice 3-1 in July 2025, and before that there were a string of tight contests, many of them decided by a single goal. The pattern that matters most here is simple: these two have both found the net regularly when they’ve met.

That fits the broader head-to-head run too. The meetings have usually had a bit of life about them, with neither side showing much interest in shutting the other out for long. One clean sheet between them across several recent encounters is no accident. It’s a trend, and a pretty stubborn one.

We Predict: Over 1.5 Goals

We’re backing Over 1.5 Goals at 1/2 for this one. It’s a short price, but it still looks the right call. Zlín’s home matches have been lively enough, Teplice have gone seven league games without a win, and both sides have shown a habit of being vulnerable when the game opens up. You don’t need a classic for this bet to land. Two goals will do it, and that bar feels well within reach.

The projected 1-1 scoreline fits the mood nicely. Zlín have enough about them at home to score, Teplice have just enough stubbornness to respond, and neither side looks reliable enough to control the game from start to finish. If you want a slightly stronger attacking lean, Both Teams to Score has plenty going for it too, given the recent meetings and each team’s defensive gaps. Still, Over 1.5 feels the cleanest angle. It’s not flashy. It just fits.
