Match form loads a moment after the page opens so the main prediction can appear first; recent results are fetched right after.

Grimsby Town — Last 6 matches
Harrogate Town — Last 6 matches

Grimsby come into this on the back of four wins in their last six league games and, at home, they have been much stronger than most League Two visitors can handle. Their recent results include a 5-0 demolition of Barrow and a 1-0 home win over Fleetwood, with the only home blemish in that spell being a 1-1 draw against Bromley. That home record matters here because Harrogate have scored just 17 away league goals all season and arrive with only one goal across their last three matches.

Harrogate’s away numbers point to a side that can be contained, even if they are not completely shut out every week. They have four away wins, six draws and ten defeats, which is enough to keep them competitive on some trips but not enough to trust them for a result at a ground where Grimsby have won 10 of 20 league games. The 17-27 away goal split is also modest, and their recent defeats to Notts County and Oldham were both by a single goal margin or worse for their attack.

There is a small tension with a clean clean home win idea because Grimsby have not kept many shutouts in this fixture historically, and the head-to-head has been lively. Five straight meetings have seen Grimsby concede, and four of the last five have gone over 2.5 goals, including a 3-3 draw and a 2-2 draw. Even so, the balance of the current form still leans toward the hosts because Harrogate have lost four of their last five league matches and have struggled to generate much at the top end.

Grimsby’s latest home win over Barrow was especially convincing, with 2.27 expected goals, six big chances and only 0.28 xGA, which is the sort of performance that supports a home victory again. Their season home record of 10 wins, 5 draws and 5 losses is far healthier than Harrogate’s away output, and the xG projection of 1.7 to 1.0 also leaves Grimsby in front even if Harrogate nick a goal. That is why the home side still looks the more reliable angle despite the chance of both teams scoring.

My prediction is Home Win at 51/100. Grimsby are far stronger at home, Harrogate have taken only four away wins all season, and the visitors have lost four of their last five league matches. Grimsby’s recent 5-0 and 1-0 home wins show they can control games on their own pitch, while Harrogate’s away goal return remains limited.
