Houston Dash have started the NWSL season with two wins from three, but the home win over Boston Legacy FC is their only clean-sheet result and the 2-1 loss at Angel City FC on 28 March showed they can still be opened up. Racing Louisville arrive with a very different profile: no wins in their first three league matches, one draw and two defeats, and they have taken only one point overall. That away record matters here, because Louisville have already lost both league trips this season while Houston are 1-0 at home.
Even so, the recent scoring pattern points toward Louisville having a real chance to nick this one. Houston have conceded in two of their three league games, and their last six in all competitions include several tight scorelines rather than dominant home control. Racing have also been competitive in recent away fixtures, losing 2-1 at Seattle Reign FC after producing 1.9 expected goals and 19 shots, which is stronger than a side sitting in 15th place usually manages. The projected 1.2 to 1.5 xG split leans slightly toward the visitors, even if the margin is not huge.
The head-to-head record also gives Louisville some encouragement. They are unbeaten in four straight meetings with Houston, including a 2-1 win in May 2025 and a 1-1 draw in August 2025. Houston have failed to keep a clean sheet in three of those recent encounters, which fits the away side’s route to upsetting the home team again, especially if the match stays close rather than turning into a one-sided contest.
My prediction is Away Win at 17/10. Racing Louisville have the better xG projection, Houston’s home record is only one game long and did not include a high-scoring attack, and Louisville’s recent head-to-head edge is hard to ignore. Their away form is poor, so this is not a straightforward call, but the visitors have been more productive in attack and have already shown they can trouble Houston in this fixture. The 1-2 scoreline is a fair fit for that balance.
Houston have enough to score, but the more reliable angle is Louisville edging it with their greater attacking output and a stronger recent matchup record.
