Puskás Akadémia — Last 6 matches
ETO FC Győr — Last 6 matches

Puskás Akadémia host ETO FC Győr in NB I on Friday evening, 10 April 2026, with the league campaign moving into its decisive stretch. For Puskás, this is about trying to force themselves back into the European conversation from sixth place. They’re on 39 points and need wins quickly if they’re going to close the gap above them. ETO, by contrast, arrive top of the table with 56 points and a real shot at turning a strong season into a title. That’s the bigger picture. They can’t afford a wobble now.

There’s also a proper contrast in styles and expectations. Puskás Akadémia have been patchy, useful enough at times and frustrating at others, while ETO FC Győr have looked like the more reliable side for most of the year. Their away record says plenty about that. They’re second in the league on the road, and they’ve travelled well. Puskás, meanwhile, have had a decent week or two after a sticky spell, but their home numbers still leave room for doubt. You wouldn’t call this a mismatch. But the table leans one way.

The recent head-to-head record sharpens the picture even more. ETO have already beaten Puskás three times in a row in the league since September, and all of those wins came without conceding. That won’t sit well with the hosts. Not at all.

Puskás Akadémia Form & Analysis

Puskás come into this on the back of a welcome 2-1 away win at Diósgyőri VTK on 5 April, a result that stopped the rot after a shaky spell. It wasn’t a polished performance, but it was the sort of away victory that can steady a season. Before that, they had drawn 1-1 at home to Debreceni VSC, lost 1-0 away to Kisvárda FC, and lost 2-1 at home to Nyiregyháza Spartacus. Add in the 2-0 away win at Kazincbarcikai SC and the 2-2 draw at MTK Budapest, and you get a side that’s been capable of scoring, but not capable of controlling games for long enough.

That’s been the story of their season. Puskás are sixth with 39 points from 11 wins, six draws and 10 defeats, and the numbers are tight enough to suggest there’s quality there, just not enough consistency. They’ve scored 34 and conceded 33 overall, so most of their matches have stayed competitive. But competition alone doesn’t win you league points. At home, the record is more worrying. Four wins, three draws and six losses from 13 matches, with 15 goals scored and 18 conceded. That’s not a base you’d trust against the team sitting first in the table.

Mind you, there are signs they can make this awkward. They’ve scored in their last two league matches and, even in defeat, they’re not completely folding. The recent xG against Diósgyőr was only 0.44, though, which is a reminder that the win came with a fair bit of grit and not much control. They’ve also had a habit of letting the opponent strike first far too often. Against a side like ETO, who tend to punish slow starts, that’s a dangerous habit. Puskás need a cleaner opening than they usually produce. Otherwise they’ll be chasing again.

ETO FC Győr Form & Analysis

ETO FC Győr arrive in much better shape. Their latest result was a 1-0 home win over Nyiregyháza Spartacus on 5 April, sealed by Ahmed Nadhir Benbouali’s first-half penalty. It wasn’t flashy, but it was composed. Before that, they had beaten Kazincbarcikai SC 3-1 away, drawn 0-0 at home to MTK Budapest, and lost 2-1 away to Zalaegerszegi TE. Earlier still, they drew 1-1 with Kecskemét TE in the cup and beat Újpest 2-1 at home. That’s a team that’s been doing enough, often without needing to be spectacular.

The league table tells the bigger story. ETO are top with 56 points from 16 wins, eight draws and only four defeats. They’ve scored 54 and conceded 28, which is a healthy return at both ends. Away from home they’ve been excellent too: second in the division on the road, with eight wins, four draws and just two losses, plus a 35-19 goal split. Those are title-chasing numbers. Simple as that. You don’t sit near the top of the away table by accident.

What stands out most is how rarely they’ve been rattled lately. They’re unbeaten in three, and even when they don’t dominate, they usually find a way to stay in the game. Their most recent win over Nyiregyháza was neat rather than ruthless. The xG was 1.22 to 0.98, so it was fairly even, but ETO still managed to edge it with control in key moments. They’ve also shown they can score on the road, with three at Kazincbarcikai SC and two at Zalaegerszegi TE. If they find that kind of rhythm again, Puskás will be under pressure fast.

Still, there’s a small wrinkle. ETO have had a few games recently where they’ve not gone wild in front of goal — the 0-0 with MTK and the 1-0 against Nyiregyháza are good examples. That doesn’t make them blunt. It just means they’re not always all-out. Against a Puskás side that can be open, though, you’d expect more space than usual. And more chances. Probably enough for them to land another result.

Head-to-Head

ETO FC Győr have completely owned this fixture lately. They beat Puskás Akadémia 2-0 in December 2025, 2-0 again in September 2025, and 2-0 away in April 2025. Before that came a 3-0 win at Puskás in December 2024. That’s four straight league wins without conceding. Brutal stuff.

The wider pattern isn’t much kinder to the hosts either. In the recent meetings available, ETO have often scored first and taken control early. Puskás have struggled to get any sort of foothold. That matters here because momentum in a fixture can become its own kind of pressure. When a team keeps losing the same matchup in the same way, confidence starts to go. You can feel it.

We Predict: Over 2.5 Goals

We’re backing Over 2.5 Goals at 8/11 for this one. It’s a touch shorter than a perfect price, but it still looks like the cleanest route into the game. Puskás have been involved in plenty of open matches this season, with 34 scored and 33 conceded overall, while ETO arrive with the kind of away record that usually produces chances at both ends. The xG projection, 1.2 for Puskás and 1.5 for ETO, points to a competitive game with enough attacking threat to get us over the line.

The score call is 1-2 to ETO FC Győr. That fits the table, fits the form, and fits the head-to-head trend, even if the H2H history is a little more conservative on goals than the overall numbers suggest. Puskás should find a way onto the scoresheet at home, but ETO’s quality and composure on the road give them the edge. If you want a slightly safer angle, ETO double chance is the obvious alternative — though if the game opens up early, Over 2.5 looks the better play.
