Samsunspor — Last 6 matches
Beşiktaş JK — Last 6 matches

Samsunspor welcome Beşiktaş to Samsun on Sunday evening in a big Süper Lig meeting with plenty riding on it for both clubs. The hosts come into the game sitting seventh with 39 points, still eyeing a late push towards the European places, while Beşiktaş are fourth on 55 and chasing the kind of run that keeps them in the mix for a stronger finish and a possible qualification route of their own. There’s a gap in the table, but not enough of one to make this feel comfortable for either side.

It’s also a game with a bit of edge to it because both teams have been living in that awkward middle ground between promise and inconsistency. Samsunspor have been decent without being spotless, especially at home, where they’ve drawn far too often to really lock down their position. Beşiktaş, under Sergen Yalcin, have been more productive and more dangerous, especially away from home, but they’re still giving opponents chances. That’s why this one has goals written all over it.

Samsunspor’s season has had a familiar feel in recent weeks: encouraging attacks, a few loose moments at the back, and results that never quite build into a clean run. Their last six matches tell that story well. They beat Eyüpspor 2-1 away on 13 April after a messy but ultimately effective performance, with late goals helping them turn the game their way. Before that came the ugly 4-1 defeat at Çaykur Rizespor, a match that exposed them defensively and stopped any momentum in its tracks. A 2-2 draw at home to Konyaspor followed, and that was the kind of result that leaves you frustrated — they scored enough to win, but not enough to see it out.

There was also the Europa Conference League tie with Rayo Vallecano, which added a different layer to their schedule. They lost 3-1 at home on 12 March, but then went to Spain and pulled off a 1-0 win on 19 March, a proper away scalp and a reminder that this squad can handle pressure when the structure is right. In the league, though, their home form has been more ordinary than they’d like. At their own ground they’ve managed four wins, seven draws and three defeats, with 13 goals scored and 15 conceded. That’s not a terrible home record, but it’s the sort of profile that leaves them vulnerable against better attacking sides. You can score here. You can also be dragged into a scrap.

The broader numbers fit that picture. Samsunspor have 34 goals scored and 38 conceded in the league overall, which is basically the story of their season in one line: competitive, lively, but not especially secure. They’ve been scoring with enough regularity to keep games open, and there’s a clear pattern of matches becoming stretched once the first goal goes in. Their last six have included plenty of action, and even when they’ve won, they haven’t exactly shut the door. At home, they’ve had enough of the ball to trouble teams, but not enough control to suffocate them. That’s a problem against Beşiktaş.

Samsunspor Form & Analysis

The home side’s recent league journey has been a bit stop-start, and that’s putting it kindly. The 2-1 win at Eyüpspor was valuable, but it followed the 4-1 hammering at Çaykur Rizespor, so the confidence gained in one match was already under threat in the next. Then came that 2-2 with Konyaspor, a game they probably expected to win at home. Put the pieces together and you’ve got a side that can compete with anyone on the right day, but doesn’t often produce the kind of calm, controlled performance that settles a game early.

Sebastian Hahn will know the concern is not that Samsunspor can’t score. They can. It’s that they tend to invite an answer. Their home record is a decent illustration: 13 goals scored and 15 conceded in 14 league matches is fine for a mid-table side, but not the profile of a team likely to keep a free-scoring opponent down for long. They’ve drawn seven at home as well, which says plenty about how many of these matches stay alive into the final stages. That won’t suit them against a Beşiktaş side that likes to play on the front foot.

There is one encouraging angle for Samsunspor, and it’s that they don’t fold when the game turns chaotic. The late win at Eyüpspor, with goals arriving deep into the second half and stoppage time, showed a bit of bite. They’re not easy to put away. Still, if you’re looking for clean-sheet security or a team that can slow the pace and make this a cagey contest, Samsunspor aren’t that side. They’ll have to score to stay in it. Probably more than once.

Beşiktaş JK Form & Analysis

Beşiktaş arrive in better shape and with more obvious attacking force. Their last six matches have had the usual mix of highs and stumbles, but the most recent one was a statement. The 4-2 home win over Antalyaspor on 10 April was an open, aggressive game in which they created a flood of chances and punished their opponents repeatedly. Before that, they were beaten 1-0 away by Fenerbahçe, a result that is never disastrous on paper but still underlined that they can be squeezed in tighter away fixtures if the rhythm’s not right from the start.

Before the Fenerbahçe setback, though, Beşiktaş had beaten Kasımpaşa 2-1 at home and won 2-0 away at Gençlerbirliği, so there’s been real productivity in their recent work. The 1-0 home loss to Galatasaray in early March was a tight one, not a collapse, and their 4-1 cup win over Çaykur Rizespor showed how quickly this side can turn on the style when the game opens up. With 53 league goals scored, Beşiktaş are operating at a much sharper attacking level than Samsunspor. That’s not accidental. It’s the strongest reason to trust them in a match like this.

Their away record is a major part of the case. Seven wins, four draws and only three defeats on the road is a proper top-end return, and they’ve scored 24 away goals while conceding 16. That’s a healthy profile. They don’t just survive away from home — they usually create enough to win there. In a league where a lot of sides become cautious once they travel, Beşiktaş are clearly more than happy to take the game to opponents. Under Sergen Yalcin, that positive approach often gives them control in the right sort of fixture, and this looks like one of them.

The slight concern is that they’re not impenetrable, even when they’re on song. Antalyaspor scored twice against them last time out, and Fenerbahçe shut them out the week before. So there’s no reason to picture a perfect defensive display here. That’s fine for our purposes. In fact, it helps the goal angle. If Beşiktaş do what they usually do away from home — score first or at least force the tempo — then Samsunspor’s own attacking habits should drag the game into a more open shape. That’s where Beşiktaş are most dangerous.

Head-to-Head

Recent meetings between these clubs lean Beşiktaş’s way, though the pattern isn’t one of constant domination. The most recent clash finished 1-1 at Beşiktaş’s ground on 23 November 2025, and before that there was a goalless draw in January 2025. Samsunspor did lose 2-0 at home to Beşiktaş in August 2024, while the previous season’s league meeting in Istanbul also ended 1-1. Go a little further back and you’ll find Beşiktaş winning 2-1 in Samsun in November 2023.

The trend is pretty clear: Beşiktaş rarely lose this fixture, and the matches usually stay competitive rather than becoming one-sided. There’s been a decent amount of caution in some of those meetings, but that hasn’t always translated into a low-tempo game overall. The balance between Beşiktaş’s superior attacking numbers and Samsunspor’s tendency to get involved in open contests is what matters most here.

We Predict: Over 2.5 Goals

We’re backing Over 2.5 Goals at 8/11 for this one, and it feels like the strongest angle on the board. Samsunspor have been involved in plenty of lively matches, especially at home, while Beşiktaş arrive with the better attack and the away numbers to match. That combination usually leads to chances at both ends. It’s hard to see this staying quiet for long.

The projected 1.1 to 1.3 xG split points in the same direction, and the likely scoreline is 1-2 to Beşiktaş. That fits the shape of the fixture well: Samsunspor should get something, but Beşiktaş have the sharper edge and the cleaner route to two or three goals. If you want a more conservative alternative, Beşiktaş to win with both teams scoring isn’t a bad shout. Still, the totals bet is the cleanest call.
