Match form loads a moment after the page opens so the main prediction can appear first; recent results are fetched right after.

IAPE — Last 6 matches
Maracanã — Last 6 matches

IAPE come into this Brasileirão Série D opener having lost their only listed recent match, a 2-0 defeat away to Santa Catarina Clube on 18 February. That result was one of very few goalscoring chances for them, with just 0.46 xG and no big chances, so there is some concern about their attacking output even before home advantage is factored in.

Maracanã arrive with a mixed but not especially convincing run, including one win, one draw and four defeats in their last six. Their most recent outing was a 1-0 loss away to Portuguesa-RJ on 5 March, and their recent away numbers include several tight games, which leaves them vulnerable if they again fall behind early.

For a home-win angle, IAPE need to turn a limited attacking sample into a stronger result, but there are reasons to think they can do that here. Maracanã have also been conceding first regularly, doing so in six of their last eight matches, and they have lost four of their last six overall. That kind of profile often leaves the away side needing to chase the game, which is never ideal on the road.

The scoring picture is not perfect for a clear home victory, because both sides have xG projected at 1.1 and the correct score leans only narrowly to 2-1. Even so, the balance of recent results still points to IAPE having the better chance of turning a close contest their way, especially with Maracanã carrying more defeats and less stable away form.

My prediction is Home Win at 73/100. IAPE have the stronger case at home because Maracanã have lost four of their last six matches and have been first to concede in six of their last eight. IAPE’s own recent defeat was a narrow 2-0 away loss with very low xG, so they were not overrun, and Maracanã’s latest away game also ended in defeat. The projected 2-1 score suggests a tight match, but the home side still look the likelier winner.
