Chelsea — Last 6 matches
Port Vale — Last 6 matches

Chelsea come into this FA Cup tie on a poor run of five matches without a win, and three of those five have ended without them scoring. That matters for a BTTS-No call, because their recent games have often broken up rather than becoming open end-to-end contests, even if the 5-2 defeat at Paris Saint-Germain showed they can still be dragged into a high-scoring evening.

Port Vale’s recent away results also lean away from both teams scoring. Their last trip finished in a 4-0 loss at Wycombe Wanderers, and before that they lost 1-0 at Doncaster and 3-2 at Blackpool. They have failed to score in two of their last three away games, which leaves them needing a sharper attacking night than they have managed lately.

Chelsea’s home and cup profile still points to control rather than a loose exchange of chances. They have gone through eight straight matches without a clean sheet, so the tension is obvious, but the bigger trend is that their games have often been decided by their own scoring volume rather than by both sides contributing. Against a lower-level opponent, they should have enough of the ball and enough box entries to keep Port Vale pinned back for long spells.

Port Vale have at least shown a habit of narrow scorelines in league play, with a 1-0 win over Bolton and a 0-0 draw with Huddersfield among their recent results. That does not guarantee a shutout here, and Chelsea’s xG projection of 2.2 suggests the hosts should create enough to threaten the clean sheet. Still, the balance of Chelsea’s scoring patterns and Port Vale’s patchy away finishing keeps the BTTS-No angle in play.

My prediction is BTTS - No at 57/100. Chelsea have failed to score in three of their last five matches, Port Vale have been blanked in two of their last three away games, and the visitors were shut out in a 4-0 defeat at Wycombe in their most recent outing. Chelsea should still carry the better chance of scoring, but the away side may not contribute enough to force both teams onto the sheet.
