Oud-Heverlee Leuven — Last 6 matches
Standard Liège — Last 6 matches

Oud-Heverlee Leuven come into this one with a mixed but useful run for a goals line: three wins and three losses in their last six, with both of their recent victories coming by narrow margins and one of the defeats a 5-1 reversal at Anderlecht. At home, though, they have been involved in plenty of goal activity across the season, and their 3-2 win over FCV Dender plus the 1-0 success against Royal Antwerp show they can contribute enough to clear a modest total.

Standard Liège have been harder to read, but they have still reached at least one goal in several of their recent away fixtures, including the 1-1 draw at Antwerp and the 1-0 win at Zulte Waregem. Their last six league matches have featured four draws, which points to another cagey outlook, yet that does not rule out two goals in the game if Leuven make the running as they often do in Bruges-style home contests. The league averages also lean slightly toward goals at home compared with away, which fits a low bar like over 1.5.

The head-to-head record is especially helpful here because four of the last five meetings between these sides produced at least two goals, and Leuven have scored in each of the last four home league games listed here. Standard have also failed to keep a clean sheet in seven straight meetings with Leuven, so even if the match is not especially open, one home goal should be available. That still leaves room for a 2-1 type score rather than a wide-margin contest, which is enough for the line.

Leuven’s latest home win over Royal Antwerp came with 1.96 expected goals, 17 shots and four big chances, while Standard’s 0-0 against Westerlo looked far less convincing at 0.43 xG and 21 shots faced. The xG projection of 1.5 to 1.1 also points toward a game with chances at both ends, and that is usually enough to beat a simple 1.5-goal requirement even if the tempo is not constant throughout.

My prediction is Over 1.5 Goals at 33/100. Leuven have enough recent home threat to contribute, Standard have still scored in several away matches, and the head-to-head history has regularly landed on at least two goals. Even with Standard’s recent draw-heavy run, the combination of Leuven’s chance creation and the modest line gives room for a 2-1 or 1-1 type result to go through.
