Match form loads a moment after the page opens so the main prediction can appear first; recent results are fetched right after.

Vegalta Sendai — Last 6 matches
Thespa Gunma — Last 6 matches

Vegalta Sendai come into this one unbeaten in eight and with only one game since their last win, so they have been very hard to put away. Their home record is tidy too, with one win and two draws from three league matches and only four goals conceded, which is the sort of base that supports a home result.

Thespa Gunma, by contrast, have lost four of their last five league games and have gone five matches without a win. Away from home they have already conceded 12 goals in four trips, and that kind of defensive return makes it difficult to trust them to hold out for long in Sendai.

There is enough recent goal data to lean towards Vegalta rather than a cautious stalemate. Sendai have scored in four of their last five league matches, while Thespa Gunma have failed to keep a clean sheet in nine straight games and have been first to concede in five of their last five. The head-to-head is not wildly open, but Vegalta have edged Thespa twice in the last three league meetings and drew the other, which again points towards the home side having the upper hand.

The xG numbers fit that picture without promising a rout. Vegalta’s most recent outing finished 0-0 at Blaublitz Akita with just 0.45 xG, so they can still be held down on the day, and the projected 1.7 to 0.9 xG split suggests a competitive match rather than a one-sided blowout. Even so, Thespa’s poor away defensive record and repeated habit of conceding first leave the home win as the stronger angle.

My prediction is Home Win at 9/20. Vegalta Sendai are unbeaten at home in the league, Thespa Gunma have taken only two points from four away matches, and their recent run includes four defeats in five. Add Thespa’s nine-game stretch without a clean sheet and Vegalta’s edge in the recent head-to-head, and the home side have the clearer path to three points.
